Current Pod-racing Standings in Mos Espa

November 6, 2011

As the pod racing circuit continues to be popular on Tatooine, reporter Rakiko Lowtide entered the latest race to obtain first hand knowledge of the top racers in the galaxy.

Racers lining up to begin the Mos Espa circuit

Mos Espa, Tatooine: Large crowds, crashes, unbearable heat, and sounds of things zipping along, were once again the norm in Mos Espa as the latest pod race was held. These weekly events have proven very popular as well as profitable for the Hutts who also hold public markets afterwards, allowing merchants from all over to sell goods without going through the normal channels obtaining and paying for licenses. Overseeing the races for the Hutts was merchant and shop owner Kodo the Troydarian.

Several racers entered this weeks contest that was marked by deadly sandstorms that caused some very large crashes. By the end of the races several pods and pieces of them littered the track to the point that the smoke from the vehicle remains blocked visibility. No reports of deaths came forward though several were injured as numerous pods caught on fire.

The overall winner Erisa Soon (front), but she better keep alert as others are on her heels, such as Captain Scarlet (back right)

Even with a higher than normal destruction rate, several racers were able to pull from the pack and continue on moving up in the galactic ranks, making a name for themselves. Most notably three racers are starting to become well-known. Captain Scarlet of the Renegade Fleet has been winning several races across the galaxy from pods to swoops, she has proven to be a very capable racer. Erisa Soon has also been burning up the tracks from Boz Pity, where swoop races are held, to Tatooine. And finally a girl known as Baby Girl, personal pilot to Darmuta the Hutt’s Majordomo Tanya Kyrie, has also proven to be a top contender. Trading off taking top spots from one another in different races, these three are the ones to watch out for.

For this evening in Mos Espa, several races were held. Coming out on top was Erisa Soon with the most wins, followed by Captain Scarlet and then Baby Girl. Erisa cautioned the kids out there to be careful if they were looking into racing and not to try out these types of races on their own, and safety should a prime concern to keep the fun. Captain Scarlet also encouraged those that may have interest to come enter the races and provide some competition. All in all it was a successful event and the Hutts should be proud of their sponsorships.

with no disrespect to the Mighty Darmuta, I am Majordomo Tanya’s personal pilot. Just to squash rumors…

My bad, I “fixed” the original version from Rakiko, according to what I heart previously on your position. I reverted the edition.
