Ryloth slavers allege working for the Twi’lek’s best interest

November 7, 2011

Continuing their investigation on the slavery, reporters of the Galactic News went on Ryloth, the homeworld of the Twi’leks.

Konga's cave

Ryloth has two main export resources, a spice, the Ryll, and the slaves. Both are more or less tolerated by the authorities, and encouraged by those making a profit of them. In a large cave in the bottom of a valley protected from the wind, Konga the Hutt has set up his business.

Xanos, which is working for Konga since his youth, explained the Twi’lek of the valley have interests to work along with the Hutt. Not only because of his might, but also they would be picked by other slavers otherwise and in condition much harsher. Furthermore, he claims he will offer them a life in a better environment than their difficult planet’s, even if the slave life is not the best possible. Some may even return home when older or move elsewhere if they were lucky enough to build up a credit stash.

Mako and Xanos

The “contract” is usually life-long, but this might vary and can usually be bought out early. Xanos’ jobs is to keep them in good health and find them a work outside. That work will depend of several factors, notably their skin color.

Ryloth slavers claim their work benefits not only themselves but also the Twi’leks. Xanos added “they don’t need heros trying to save them from their plight.” Some tried, but the slavers say they usually get killed along with the Twi’lek they were trying to save in the skirmish.

((ok, I’ve got to ask, what species is this Xanos guy supposed to be? Because I’m seeing more than two head-tentacles, which means he’s not a Twi’lek, and he has normal eyes with pupils, which means he’s not a Nautolan, as their eyes are solid black and pupiless. He also appears to have chin tentacles like a Sith (the species). Can someone tell me what he is?))

((on further looking into it I see that more than two headtails on a Twi’lek is possible, however rare, and the most that has ever been seen is four. However Xenos has at least 10 by my count from the picture, so my question still stands. What is he?))

      ((He’s a Feeorin))

(( He doesn’t look like a Feeorin. He looks like a mutated Twi’lek. There are people that sell Feeorin AVs if he’s unable to find one. ))

I really wish GNN could have got a slave alone and asked one of them what they thought of slavery, Daana.

And then the slave be whipped for speaking out against their master? How cruel…

      • November 8, 2011 at 12:14 AM

Oh, I’m sure Daana would speak to them under conditions of anonymity.

    • November 7, 2011 at 10:00 PM

Indeed. We need to find one, alone and able to speak.

I was able to speak with a few and everyone insisted they wanted to be there and were there by their own free will. When I asked if this was the case why did they wear collars the man said it should be compared to a wedding ring…

    Sad but true…

Emperor’s black bones. I understand a little slap and tickle can be fun in the bedroom, but dedicating your life to your slaver? What happens when you’re old and wrinkley and nobody wants to give you attention anymore? What have you made of your life? Your collar will be less ‘wedding ring’ and more “Oh kriff, I messed up my life.”.

Just wait twenty years. You know what happens to the neighborhood ‘pump’, after nobody wants to pay for her services anymore? THIRTY TIMES WORSE when you can’t quit. You’ll just be abandoned, or sold, or worse.. made to sit there and watch your master kriff others while you watch and /wither/.

I can understand getting off on the idea of lifelong slavery without limits or consent. But think about where it leads you, schutta.

wait wait wait……people WANT to be slaves?! i think people are being hit in the head a few too many times.

People must understand that most of the Twi’lek slaves actually VOLUNTEER to be slaves or rather become indentured servants to escape the harsh, hospitable environment of their home world. Being a dancer for a few years who gets men staring at her all day and may even get personal credits as tips is much better than the chance of being killed or eaten daily. Outsiders may not see it as a good thing, but this is a very delicate political situation. Twi’leks also possess no form of space travel from their home world other than via slavers and spacers. If people don’t like slave trafficking then they should provide transportation and paying jobs for Twi’leks, although we all know that’s unlikely as no matter how much people complain, this is a moral gray area. Providing free transportation and jobs is expensive, would upset the Hutts, and it would take a large and expertly trained security force to protect transport vessels and Twi’leks from native threats as well as slavers, both on planet and off planet.
It’s ironic that this statement comes from a pirate. Either way my kind would benefit. Slavers, pirates, and Hutts benefit now as it is. And we would continue to benefit even if change like this happens.

( Does not seem that off to me. The Feeorin AV’s I have seen look more like Nautolan’s to me. No offense to the maker as they do make good stuff. the work was put in to at least have the face tentacles and all why give a hard time -.-; )

(( The av looks good but the headtails are throwing me off. They look like a Twi’lek if it had dreads. ))
