GAR Names New Shock Trooper

December 3, 2011

Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide were allowed to attend the ceremony at the GAR headquarters on Bakurato name a new Shock trooper. Before the announcement the GAR leadership also spoke of rank restructuring. After the main announcement the reporters were able to speak with the new Shock Trooper on several issues.

The ceremony for a new Shock Trooper begins

Bakura: The Headquarters of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) were the center of attention as several troopers arrived for a rare ceremony, the naming of a new Shock Trooper. Several had run for the position but this night only one would be added to the Clone Council. However as the clones began to fall into formation and most of the clone leadership arrived, Admiral Star gave an explanation to the new restructuring of the platoons and the ranks.

Recently the army has had trouble evening the number of new recruits in each platoon with some receiving the most while others barely any. This was attributed to drill sergeants persuading new recruits to their platoon, therefore the armies that didn’t train new recruits were starting to become underrepresented. Specialized platoons such as the 403rd, specialized pilots, would still be able to recruit, however other armies such as the 21st and 724th would function on a draft system. Furthermore, popular platoons such as the 501st would not be able to host drill sergeants and their recruitment would be handled by the clone leadership.

Also changing was the structure of squads. Before static squads were formed, but now temporary squads could be formed for missions commanded by the highest ranked trooper available. This should allow the GAR to be more efficient and respond quicker to situations not relying on finding all the members of the squad or fighting with multiple halfpresent squads. Now a fully function squad could be formed on the spot. Also the ranks would be more fluid and troopers could be expected to be promoted on merit rather than waiting for positions to open as large portions of the command structure was promoted.

ARC Trooper Silver now becomes a Shock Trooper

After the preliminaries were out-of-the-way, the announcement was finally made for the new Shock Trooper. As the clones waited anxiously, it was finally announced that ARC Trooper would be promoted to the rank of Shock Trooper and would take a seat on the Clone Council.

Following the ceremony, Shock Trooper Silver was gracious enough to give an interview. First he stated that the elections had been low-key, with word of mouth between the troopers being the main way candidates and their platforms were known. Stating that he has climbed through the ranks like any other trooper, he does believe that his push for internal restructuring and making the GAR more efficient was what finally allowed him to win the election. Many of his ideas were the basis of the before mention announcement on restructuring. Also he has been a proponent for a more rigorous combat simulation and training regime to make the army even better and hopes to work with the officers and ARC trooper Wraith on his idea. Overall he wants the army to be more efficient and sleeker, which he hopes will bolster the GAR’s image on Bakura and the rest of the Galaxy.

On the question of Admiral “Vice”, who was recently executed for being a traitor, the Shock Trooper would not comment much other than to say what was done is done, but that he himself had asked for Wiseman to be kept alive. However, others in the army took it up on themselves to render judgment, but Silver was glad that his brothers did finally have justice. Even though he knows the Hutts are displeased, he stated that full scale hostilities were adverted since the admiral’s remains were returned to them and the GAR will extend any other offering that they are able to.

The ceremony ends with trooopers congratulating Silver

Silver also reiterated the independence of the GAR from the New Republic. Republic in the GAR name was for historical reasons not that they were that current government’s troopers. The Galactic Senate was free to do things independently the same that the GAR was. However, he does hope that the GAR and the Senate continue to work together for the betterment of the Galaxy. Most notably the GAR will continue their operations against the Sith but states these are GAR operations not Republic ones.

On a final note, the Shock Trooper extended his apologies to the GNN reporters for their recent capture on Bakura by pirates. Recently GAR accepted the call by Senator Spanitz of the Salis D’arr District for the arrest of the kidnappers. Pirate Lord Jes’Tula is now a main target by the GAR and the army in association with Bakuran agents will also be identifying and looking for his associates. ”

It sounds to me like Gar is thinking over much of themselves of late. Although I must confess if I were born in a vat, I to might have issues with my self esteem.

”Unbelievable. I wasn’t even named in specific, but Jest’ula was? This is just insulting. I’m several times more attractive than he is.” She would shake her head upon reading the article, mostly outraged that she was only mentioned as an associate.

”I suppose it matters not. Chaos was done, press was earned. Credits were earned, too. Oh, it was a good week.”
