New Base on Telos IV

December 4, 2011

Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide travelled to Telos IV to take a tour of a new base constructed in the polar regions.

Telos IV: Life here hasn’t changed much over the last few years since the system’s major city was touched by a meteor. However, now several factions have combined their resources to build a large base in the polar regions of the planets, each with their own reasons.

New Base on Telos IV.

The main group behind the construction is a mercenary group known as Ghost Squadron, who had the base commissioned over the site of a buried Jedi Academy as well as a rumoured buried HK droid factory in some nearby ruins. Ghost Squadron, headed by a lady known as Callista, is hoping to excavate the area and find possible treasures and artifacts buried in the snow. Callista herself has taken the title governor indicating that they may be seeing this as a long-term project with possible expansions.

The Mandalorian clan Dha’oya’karir, lead by Jarell Xaaris has also been hired for the much of the heavy lifting in the construction of the base. Their long-term occupation on the planet will depend on whether their employment will continue after the base has fully been constructed.

Also finding a new home here is the New Trade Federation (NTF) who is building part of the facility also to be the center of a new base for this organization which is rebuilding itself back into a major Galactic power. Viceroy Alexander Wade himself is stationed here and is helping to oversee the construction, while providing security for the region in exchange for their occupation.

Security is a main concern here as rumours of the possible artifacts under the snow ranging from ancient Jedi knowledge to assassin droid schematics abound. As for the rest of the planet, natural resources and agricultural goods seem to be the main exports from the planet. Each faction sees the planet as a stable new home with only the natural threat of a possible meteor strike, which has occurred recently in the system, though the NTF is building a shielding project to protect the area.

The leaders were happy to give us a tour of the facilities, much of which is behind tight security. From the landing bay, one walks through a well landscaped courtyard to a large cantina. From here there are several corridors to different areas of the base. The Ghost Squadron wing included a large training area as well as dorms. The mandalorians also have their own dorms and other facilities while they stay here, while the NTF is in the process of building a Senate hall to be the center of their government as new systems come under their control. The NTF also has several rooms and offices.

Each faction also shares other facilities such as a large modern medical area, which were laid out on the way to the most secured area of the base, the NTF Command Center. Located here will be the center communication area to oversee and direct the army and navy divisions of the NTF. Currently the Navy is being rebuilt at a secret location, but soon two capital ships as well as six frigates will be heading to the system to help secure the region.

Hopefully this new construction will help catapult Telos IV back into the status of a major cultural and economic hub. GNN will continue coverage of the process and actions by each faction.
