Troopers beat Hutt liege in Nar Shaddaa

December 7, 2011

Wandering in Nar Shaddaa, reporters of the Galactic News heart about an incident in the lower city…

Maia yielding to the troopers (image from a witness)

Nar Shaddaa: Street fights are not uncommon in the lower city of Nar Shaddaa. This time a pair of clone trooper armoured men attacked a woman to steal her armour. The woman, Maia is a former trooper of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR.) She deserted the army and swore fidelity to the Jiramma Hutt clan after Admiral Vice death incident. She said a member of the GAR had attended the audience where she announced her new allegiance and  reported it to his commanding officer.

She was in a cantina  when a trooper in armour requested she gave up her GAR armour. She was not wearing it at that time and is certain only the GAR knew she still had it. Everyone drew their weapons but the troopers had the upper hand and severely injured the woman. She had to surrender the equipment she had on her to  the trooper. Then she was taken in by neighbors which gave her the care her state required. She is still confined in her bed at the time being.

Such incidents might not help to restore the image of the Grand Army in the Hutt Space. As a retaliation against Vice’s death, someone is already proposing bounties for the capture of GAR troopers.

That is where you are wrong, my friend. I do not act as arrogantly as you do, believing things will come to me as I wish. I am someone who came out of Poverty and being an orphan as a child on Tantooine, one of the hundreds of rats who has to make something of themselves at an early age. Unlike you I do not sit back and criticize; I Act.

You are welcome to continue as you are like all the other weaklings yelling at their leaders without contributing anything to society but a weakened morale and angry temper; Or you may join me and the few others who choose to do rather then say.

Think before you act, and follow what you say; or you are as meaningless to society as an insect.

I would like to say that not “steal” the armor, but to retreive it, after all why woud she need a GAR armor if she left GAR? The only thing that could end by holding the armor would be only be used for bad purposes only, what GAR, naturally, prevented… this doesn’t seems to me like an incident that might affect GAR negatively….

”While I agree with you ; She held your property.. You must in turn agree that GAR acted outside Republic space. Hutt space, mind you. One must ask, is retrieving mass made armour an infraction on par with playing Galactic Police?”

Hutts acted outside Hutt space when they came to Taanab to arrest that Twi’lek Grandmaster a few weeks back. The point is if a criminal of the republic goes to Hutt Space they will try and claim them and if a criminal of Hutt space goes to the Republic they also will try to claim them. Of course what these soldiers did here was wrong and should be punished acording to GARs uniform code of military justice.

    • December 11, 2011 at 10:04 PM

Tell me advisor Teeana Farlance, your ellegiance is to GAR or to Taanab goverment and representatives in Galactic Senate, you can’t stay in 2 boats.

Might also be worth mentioning, the GAR armor that was being ‘stolen’ was stolen by her and her commanding officer to begin with, Wise wasn’t just allowed to leave with the capital ship full of military hardware and supplies, he flat out stole them.

actually, Maia wasn’t with Admiral Vice’s Renegade Fleet or even when he was in the ranks of GAR. Maia’s defection came later and was done by her solely in distaste for the exicution.
There is no relation between the two other then admiration.

The GAR later sent three troopers who acknowledged the assault on a Nar Shaddaa citizen and apologized, twice. They told me that the to had acted in unauthorized fashion and a Hutt Representative will be there to witness their punishment.

While some troopers acted dishonorably, the three I met with acted decently and appropriately during their visit, and it was appreciated. May we continue relations as the latter rather than the former.

Indeed, i agree with Shaka the Huttling. I would also like to thank Shaka for helping the republic at my rescue. I will also pay a visit to Shaka as soon as i will be released from the medbay ((rl matters)) but until than i couldnt hold back to thank Shaka for the help

Although the troopers may have acted inappropriately whilst doing so, or gone about it the wrong way, technically the armor and equipment this GAR deserter possessed was stolen. Upon joining (or being born into, depending on if you’re a clone or not) GAR, you agree that upon leaving the army, you forfeit all equipment given to you as well as the privilege to use the loaned equipment unless given special permission or under special circumstances. Two things: Desertion is completely different from retirement or being discharged, and this clone did not have permission to keep her equipment. Technically she deserted from active duty, stealing loaned equipment in the process. The troopers should have simply contacted and worked with local authorities to regain their stolen equipment instead of going about this as they did.

Yes but they did this in hutt space. As I had said to other people on the matter. It would have been rude but legal if this had happened on a republic world. It did not, gar or the republic have no right to take actions in a sector of space that they do not control. The fate of any one in hutt space is dependant on the judgement of the hutts. At least in matters legal and polical. When other governemnts or their agents, violated that space, then they are over stepping their legality when it comes to actions they can preform.

      • December 9, 2011 at 8:22 AM

I never said it was legal or that they were in the right. I never said the deserter was in the right either. Both sides are in the wrong in this situation.

defective clones, go figure. You have to expain about three times what a finger is before asking: “how many fingers am I holding up?” or they start couting it on their toes.

Actually, GAR like all Military agencies, can go wherever they please to track down their own technically speaking, now the hutts may not like it very much, but they aren’t breaking any republic laws nor their own laws,The Hutt’s law really doesn’t matter in the big picture regarding this as long as it’s not impacting their cash flow, they usually don’t care. Hutt space isn’t some safe place that the Hutts wisely administrate to make sure their people are all happy. It’s a lawless frontier and fringe full of murderous lowlifes who would kill their own mother for a bag of credits. The Hutts don’t enforce laws in their own space beyond And they don’t take care of anyone in Hutt space, they don’t bother to individually judge what must be done with everyone who crosses someone else in their space. They don’t have time for that nonsense. You go to nar shaddaa, no one’s going to help you if you get mugged, raped, or murdered in an alley, and it’s completely idiotic to expect the Hutts to care as long as it doesn’t cost them any credits. As long as you don’t break the cardinal law:”Don’t fuck with our money” you can literally get away with murder in most cases. but really as long as their money isn’t being cut into, there’s no reason for them to care.

I just wish people would stop trying to pretend the Hutts are a legitimate government, and remember that they’re a conglomerate of crime lords.

    .

so…what you’re saying is that it’s okay for them to go anywhere in the entire galaxy. all right, let’s say that they think there’s a rogue GAR in my home on Nar Shaddaa, they can kindly kriff off, because they’re not entering my home no matter HOW MUCH evidence they may have that there’s a rogue trooper in said home. do you know why? because it’s not their jurisdiction. if i wanted to be in republic jurisdiction i would be LIVING IN REPUBLIC JURISDICTION. kindly keep your tyrannical militaristic government to yourself.

    • Morrigan Wemyss
      December 10, 2011 at 10:24 AM

That is the point. I agree it does not matter if hutt space was controlled by a spice using jawa, it would still be out of the jurisdiction of the republic. You can not simply enter into some other sector and do what you like. I assure you the hutts are aware of gars action and are not pleased, despite what you may think. About being a den of vice and murder.

Well if The GAR trooper they know for a fact is in your home, what they *should* do is ask you to release them into their custody. Technically speaking, the GAR as a military can move to reclaim stolen property taken by their own people anywhere public, but the problems come is when people take active offense to this, This should’ve been handled better, but hell sign of the times I guess?

It is silly to assume that all buisnesses on Nar Shaddaa are corrupt or lead by criminals, there are markets people get food, offices people can rent from, clothing stores, ect. The Hutts collect taxes from the exchange of goods for money, just like everyother government. If the streets of Nar where full of crimes that went unpunished as Brave stated, it would be bad for buisness, no one would go shopping for fear of being raped or murdered, and surely merchants would take the biggest hits due to shoplifting and robbery, running most of them out of buisness, if they weren’t murdered on their way to work.
It is a stereotype to assume that the Hutts are a crime syndicate based on other Hutts hundreds of years in the past, but even if they were I’m sure they wouldn’t want their streets to get out of control. It is just bad buisness.
One thing you seem to forget, is that the Hutts in Hutt Space make the laws, and even though they may be different or more lieneant then the laws on your planet, there are still laws.
And before we start pointing fingers, show me government that hasen’t been accused of corruption at one time or another.

    • Brave
      December 12, 2011 at 5:00 AM

Not all businesses are corrupt, but I guarantee you they’re all being extorted in some racket.

The hutts don’t collect taxes, they collect protection money or goods. And yeah, the Streets are Nar Shaddaa are full of crime that goes unpunished, And yeah people are afraid of being raped or murdered, that’s why anyone who goes to Nar Shaddaa knows enough to either go armed or hire a bodyguard. You don’t go walking the undercity of Nar Shaddaa alone and you sure as Osik don’t do it unarmed. Most shops that pay protection money get Hutt protection, but the ones that don’t don’t last very long. There is a reason they call Nar Shaddaa the Smuggler’s moon. So yeah , no one jumps Hutt shipments or messes with Hutt protected interests ,because pissing off the Hutts is a really good way to wind up dumped off a building in the refugee sector in carbonite boots with a bag over your head.

It’s not a Stereotype that Hutts are based on criminals from hundreds of years past, because alot of the hutt’s still around *Are* Hutts from hundreds of years past, They tend to live for a very, very long time. in fact there are hutts active now that personally have met and did business with Jabba Desilijiic. Do you really think any of them are suddenly going to, out of no where turn over a new leaf when they’ve been untouched by nearly every Major conflict in the galaxy for the last 300 years? with the maybe exception of the Yuuzhan Vong and Sith-Imperial Wars, I mean don’t be so blasted Naive, Baby Girl. The Hutts are Gangsters. They always have Been Gangsters,For thousands and thousands of years, and until Being Gangsters stop’s being so incredibly lucrative for them ,there is no reason to think for a second they’ll suddenly stop being Gangsters.

I mean get real here, there’s a huge difference between bureaucratic corruption, psuedo fascist policy (which I admit there is plenty of in the Republic and GAR, what with it being a Military Organization and Totalitarianism is the baseline for any Military Organization)

And an ancient precedent, history, and predisposition to being crime lords. You have to be an idiot to not see the Hutts as they are, and hell they don’t even try to hide it most of them, because let’s face it. The Hutts are untouchable within their own space, unless you’re willing to go to war with them and fight the thousands and thousands and thousands of mercenary organizations, Bounty Hunters, Assassin’s, and Droids they can pull to defend their space, and either fight a long, bloody, drawn out war of attrition against a mainly guerilla fighting Force that can strike from anywhere, anytime, doesn’t care about the rules of warfare at all, and doesn’t wear a uniform, anyone can be an enemy, I mean you’d have to glass the y’toub system from Orbit to ensure victory and the casualties from that would literally be an astronomical number, that is completely unacceptable, You can’t just Murder an entire world, even if they’re all criminals, not if you wish to endear yourselves to the people of the Galaxy.

I mean, if you’re Sith, you might, and if you’re Mandalorian and your enemy is trying to use civilians as a shield to stop you from attacking, then you would, But The Republic? Nah.

So really, the Hutts dont have any reason to even pretend they’re not criminals within their own space. It’s kinda funny there are some people naive enough to think, that they actually, for some reason, aren’t.

Ryan Adams :You are wrong, all of those are of the same boat as long as GAR is part of The Republic.

GAR is a part of the republic, it is their army, but, the young zeltron advisor works for the planetary goverment of Taanab, not for GAR, IT IS VERY EASY,wants to work for GAR, she will resign from her duty as advisor of the senator of Taanab and she can work for Grand Army of the Republic.

  10. December 13, 2011 at 2:32 AM

Ryan Adams :yet just yesterday you said that GAR and the Republic where two separate entities where a person could not support both? I wonder, where does your allegiance lie?

No, no, no, governor, a politician can support in his declarations a institution of the Republic, but she is suspected by Taanab authorities she is doing much more than supporting with her declarations the Grand Army and she was inquiered and had to respond at some accusations(not for supporting GAR).
