Zonama Merchant to Open Oupost on Ossus

December 9, 2011

While visiting Ossus for news, Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide met up with Tishia Rinai, a merchant from Zonama Sekot.

Ossus: Still under Sith control, the once strong Jedi stronghold continues to be a peaceful heavily forested and jungle world, though much of the Jedi presence is being overgrown. Most have the forces are stationed around the planet and the strong customs presence has pretty much subsided since the uprising earlier. Now life continues for the most part as it has for several centuries. That’s what made it more surprising to meet a merchant from Zonama Sekot, her unique Zonaman ship giving away that she was here.

Merchant Tishia Rinai, relaxing before her duties of establishing a trade outpost

Tishia Rinai is a Ferroan space merchant and owner of the Lifetree Company, dealing in several types of goods, though her fruit shipments have been quite a hit on several worlds including Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine. However, because of the distance of Zonama Sekot from any other sentient world, she needed a plan to get goods to her customers faster. Therefore, she entered into a deal with the Sith Empire to open a trading outpost on Ossus using and restoring one of the old abandoned building before it totally succumbed to the vegetation. This way she will be able to story merchandise and retrieve it quicker to transport it to some of the regular worlds she travels to.

As for what the Sith, she said they had little interest by material goods, even if she will pay the regular taxes. The Sith have not shown recently any strong direct interest in developing this world, though by favouring trade will support their claim they’re not warmongers and can encourage harmless or peaceful activities. Also, she doesn’t believe that just opening a secure trading post on Ossus will affect any of her business dealing with other factions such as the Hutts or the Republic. In fact it will just make her more efficient. For now her company is small, mainly her and her droid, though in the future other ships, more crew and merchants maybe added.

Now under the Sith authority, Ossus is scattered by vestiges of its Jedi past

She will also be benefiting from a trade agreement that Zonama Sekot and the Hutt Council have entered into. Her goods will be taxed lower in Hutt space, and there should be other benefits as well. She herself however won’t deal in merchandise illegal on Zonama Sekot, but that maybe legal in Hutt space like slavery. In fact the trade agreement between the Zonamans and the Hutts have provisions on how to handle such situations such as slavery. The final signing of the trade agreement will happen soon between the Hutt council and the Zonaman Magister, Salene Lusch.

As a personal editorial, its good to see independent traders making a living that’s not based on one of the more fringe trades such as slaves and spice. Miss Rinai herself seemed very optimistic about the future and said she’ll be glad to help her people and her home world as well as contribute the peace of the Galaxy.

Truly. If anybody gets angry over a free trader shipping fruit around the Galaxy, I’m going to laugh at them.

((OOCly, Zonoma seems to be almost like the SW equivalent to Switzerland these days. 😉 ))

(( “The Sith have not shown recently any strong direct interest in developing this world, though by favouring trade will support their claim they’re not warmongers and can encourage harmless or peaceful activities.”

A saying my mother often told me comes to mind when it comes to the Sith of SWRP. “The Devil’s greatest trick was convincing humanity he doesn’t exist.”

No better tactical move than someone able to convince the RP community that the Sith are peaceful and loving. ))
