Coruscant: Trouble in the Senate

February 19, 2012

Galactic News reporters attended to the last session of the New Republic Senate.

A large confusion followed the last Senate Meeting in Coruscant.

Preview Meeting

The day before, during a preview meeting some of the senators discussed the points of the order of the day. Senators Nomi Drewmoore of Dantooine and Rain Titanium of Yavin 4 gave a favourable advice on the candidacy of Ukio. According to the investigation of Jedi Knights of Dantooine, the planet satisfied the condition, notably being free of Sith presence. They wanted to know more, however on their relationship with the Hutts. Also The Senator Hixal from Varonat objected one of their candidate for Senator, Chelsea, had already allied with Sith. Other people in the audience also disagreed with this choice for a Senator.

The next topic was the normalisation of the relationship with the Black Nebula. Rek’Teka one of the co-leaders came in the senate to discuss on a trade agreement. The attending senators disagreed with the organisation, accusing them of illegal trade since they are doing most of their business with the Hutts. Even if they defended their trade was legal in the worlds they happened, the Black Nebula proposal failed to make any progress, not before an intense argument.

Plenary Seance at work

The day after, the plenary seance opened, with the Chancellor having excused his absence. Once again it started with Ukio’s candidacy. The Senator of Tython, Nasaji Oba evoked the good trade relation they have with Zonama Sekot, which their Magister Salene Lusch presented the application for Ukio. Miss Oba also invited Shaka the Hutt wich was able to response on his assumed alliance with the Sith, telling he is a long friend to the Republic, having supported them many times when they needed.

Attacker neutralised

The meeting ended abruptly there. Outside the noise of a large explosion resounded, and a few moments later a fire started in the rotunda forcing the senators to evacuate the building.

The first explosion occurred on a public transport which caused many death in the passengers. The men dispatched to investigate supposed an attack but didn’t find the responsible. Few minutes later. While many people at the entrance where clustered, a man rushed to the door, a detonator in his hand and shouting “Freedom or Death”. He was noticed by the Antarian Ranger Kyle Asbrink which knocked him out and proceeded to his arrest.

Senate in Fire

Meanwhile a large fire started in the senate rotunda which definitively interrupting the meeting. The senators and their guests were evacuated by air via the side windows . It’s still unknown if the fire was caused by an accident or an attack.

Afterwards, several people came to investigate. Amongst them a group from the Verekai Empire who added to the confusion, claiming they now owned Coruscant. According to their officer, they would have purchased Coruscant industries while the Senate focused on other matters. Coruscant therefore by their account is not a Republic world now but they would talk later about introducing it to the Empire as a member. In the Verekai Empire the people have a voice through their Senate, the Emperor, personifying the Empire can veto the bills.

Verekai Empire officers

The Verekai officer also  stated, having being informed of a upcoming Sith Attack, the fire or the suicide attack might be related.

The Republic will certainly have to reorganise, to face the repeated attacks. Also the situation in Coruscant, where the senator and vice chancellor of the Republic have been missing for a long time, will certainly need to be addressed.

Excuse me, but these Verekai Empire fellows seem to be pants-on-head nutters. Coruscant isn’t a planet owned by one single company, and ownership of a company does not grant ownership of the planet it is based on. It is simply poppycock to assume this.

  3. February 19, 2012 at 8:19 AM

Well, it’s good to know there are still idiots in the galaxy. Ownership of a company ON a planet does not equate ownership of said planet.

    Shab, even I know that.

I don’t always run around as a false empire, but when I do, I try to claim planets away from a major actual faction!?! Makes sense.

  8. February 19, 2012 at 1:24 PM

Such a shame.. I warned several senators and other Jedi (( I’d be at work during this time)) that DOR was coming to sabotage the meeting held by the Senate. They shunned my findings and said that the force lied.

    The force is no lie…

Don’t jump to conclusions Aelus….we’ve no word on who was responsible yet. DOR is rather a minor annoyance….somehow I doubt that DOR is responsible.

Actually with the help of the verkai miltary the NRGF found edvince that the suicide bomber is not from DOR or any known sith/darkside/scoundrel faction.

”Absolutely lovely. So the famed democracy of the Republic now has a self proclaimed Emperor who can veto anything the other senators think of. Yes, this makes absolutely perfectly wondrous sense. While I favour not the Republic or Sith and would prefer to profit off of each side, remind me to visit if only to purely laugh at this Empire’s pitiful ideas.”

      February 19, 2012 at 5:01 PM

I think what it ment was their Emperor can veto things in their own Empire. Not the Republic or anything at the Republics Senate meeting. If what is said is true then Coruscant is not part of the Senate or Republic so Verekai cant veto anything regarding the New Republic.

  12. February 19, 2012 at 2:50 PM

Xan my friend, I have known of their plot for some time now. I even spoke word that such an event would happen. And to all to see it did happen, with the intelligence I gathered from a rogue DOR apprentice.

NRGF are not capable of seeing the ways of the force to understand the matter at hand.

I tracked down one of DOR’s leaders and they claim to not have been part of such an attack. Considering it was at the heart of the Republic and they have no problems attacking I see no reason why this person would lie.

Good thing you took the bait, least we know people like to leak out stuff within our group. Funny how theres nothing provable related to us about the senate, as we obviously have had nothing to do with the attack.

Keep that arrogant Force poodoo out of it. You just heard from the kriffing NRGF on that and you heard them say there was no tie there. Stop being arrogant and do actual legwork and you’ll get somewhere.

Mr. Rochester, are you comfirming though that if not a member of an opposing faction that we could be looking at someone on the inside so to speak?

I’d like to dispel any and all myths that I am contemplating a run for senator. I have no desire whatsoever to hold such a position.

The bait? There was no bait to be taken you fool. The information was valid, and your leaks will continue as they have already. My information was solid on, there was no way I could of known the exact date from one within your own groups leaking and have it happen.

You know nothing of the force you old fool. You may stand a commander but you will never understand the events at hand just like NRGF. You both lack the ability to see within the force what is being held.

I truly feel sorry for you.

Hello? NRGF were on hand at the scene to determine the evidence on hand. You on the other hand got DOR on the brain….when you actually pay attention to evidence, then talk. That’s why you are just an agent, and nothing more.

Of course DOR would claim responsibility to you, cause they want the universe to revolve around them. Haven’t you figured that out yet?

Do you not understand or has your old age made you crazy? I was tipped off by a leak in their group of this attack on the senate meeting weeks ago. I informed a Senator of Uvena of this last week. With that, let us use our logic to prove NRGF’s stupidity. If I knew this from DOR a week ago, why did it go down on this exact day I was told DOR was going to have a person do it?

Your evidence is planted and this has been prepared for weeks time. NRGF is milestones behind on this case. That is the problem with your kind of force-sensitive… you trust too much on what you think is right over the force.

    • February 19, 2012 at 8:54 PM

Considering we have no Senators on Uvena Prime, young man, you may wish to double check your information.

      February 19, 2012 at 9:36 PM

While you may have received a tip DOR was going to attack the Senate what leads you to believe this specific attack was DOR? I’ve been in many many DOR attacks and they always make themselves known. Why would they be public in every single battle up until this point but then seem to almost hide in the shadows in an attack against the Senate when they could literally put their order on the map with such an attack? It just makes no sense and is completely out of character. DOR would have done the bombing and then you would have seen a swarm of sith surround the building trying to hack people down in the confusion. If it was DOR it was done by someone on the side and must not have been sanctioned by the higher ups. As an investigator we must use the force to look for answers but we must also use our heads and follow leads, patterns and evidence to come to conclusions. From what you have said it sounds as if someone in DOR leaked it to you but someone else actually carried it out.

“The Disciples of Ragnos had not attacked the Senate, this ‘leaked information’ is false. I suggest you check your sources Jidai. Had it not occurred to you that the Disciples do ‘gloat’ rather much about our endeavors? Why would we hide such a glorious day… I congratulate the attacker upon the Republic Senate…”

    • February 20, 2012 at 10:07 PM

I’m no Agent of yours. I do not serve those who are blinded by the dark side, such as you. You hold the title commander but it means nothing to me old man.

(( I am thoroughly fed up with this sort of thing continuing to happen. It is quite obvious the people involved seem to have next to no creativity whatsoever as to how to attack a faction. First it was viruses, and now it is explosives. Not to mention this all done long after many orders being given to tighten security to the extent of inspecting all incoming crafts in and out. I am sure whoever did this has some excuse that will sound ridiculous once I hear it, and I will want nothing to do with this roleplay whatsoever. It is truly a shame that people do not seem to have the ability to conduct a decent roleplay anymore. ))

    (( (…)
I was Antarian Ranger other than General Asbrink guarding the entrance, and the bomb going off at the shuttle outside the Senate, and the suicide bomber were semi-scripted events. The first bomb was meant to draw curious and frightened Senators outside the building for them to investigate, before the suicide bomber makes his move to rush in and take as many senators as he can with him. The explosion and fire within the Senate building was unplanned, and the whole introduction of the Verekai Empire sideswiped us out of the blue.

Anyway, hi. I’m a newcomer to SWRP. I have been roleplaying for about 12 years, and have spent a year with CCP Games as a volunteer ingame event producer and actor for EVE Online. With that being said, I’d like to think that I know a thing or two about conducting RP incidents like this.

Now that the facts concerning the origin of the bombing incident are out of the way, the issue of the Verekai Empire ought to be addressed.

    (…)))

Actually they claim they own the planet beacuase they bought up the differnt companies and such around the planet and merged them into one big mega corpration…they esstinally own about 90 :% of the ecomonmy on the planet. It’s actually an inresting tatic…beats the sith method of using troopers to kill the current owners miltary and then having your would be darths masscare young children so they cant become jedi.

      February 21, 2012 at 11:30 AM

That would not only cost them trillions of credits, which I doubt a random spring up empire like this would have in liquid capital, but even that does not give them control of the planet. That’s kinda not how government works. Basically, they’re lying.
