Rakgouls Make Their Way to Yavin IV

March 16, 2012

Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide travelled to the moon, Yavin IV after reports indicated there was a Rak’goul breakout there. The reporters spoke with locals, Jedi, Yavin IV defence personnel and members of GAR.

Yavin IV: Meeting with several, including Captain Cirden Fang, Padawans Luna, Varuuk, and Ulysses and Private Pepper of the GAR. Captain Cirden explained that the situation on Susevfi had become very dire from the outbreak of the Rakgoul plague. An emergency evacuation had been taken place, with ships bringing as many refugees as possible to Yavin IV. However, in the confusion 6 ships were allowed to get through exception and it was believed they had infected individuals aboard that were not treated. To prove the truth to this theory, one of the ships crashed on Yavin IV after it slipped past system security, who were unable to bring it down. Once crashed it unloaded its compliment of mutated Rakgouls onto the countryside.

Several members of the KOJ, including Luna and Ulysses, along with local defence forces Captain Cirden engaged the Rakgouls as the pressed their way into the Jedi Academy. The medical area became the focus of the battle as the Rak’gouls pressed their attack there, due to the concentration of people who had gathered. The KOJ and local defence forces were able to keep them at bay until help from GAR arrived, though several casualties occurred.  The Rak’gouls were finally repelled after the largest of them was killed and now it’s believed only a handful of the Rakgouls still survive roaming the wilderness.

As for their threat, they aren’t considered a high priority but will be hunted down. Though those visiting the temple or other outlying areas should be armed and prepared for encounters. Luna explained that her master Dakota Kanto along with the help Padawan Varuuk was able to find a cure to the Rak’goul disease. Unable to actually help someone who had already transformed into the creature, it did help those with early stages of the disease while also acting as an antibody for those yet infected. The side-effects of the cure are yet known, but everyone agreed those would be better than the nightmare of turning into one of the creatures. As for the other five ships, the Jedi and military forces are looking to find them as quickly as possible.

Later Private Pepper of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) gave his eyewitness testimony. He had been on Yavin IV when the outbreak occurred and was the one to request reinforcements. The first GAR troopers on the scene were assigned with removing and protecting the wounded, but by the time they arrived Private Pepper was heavily involved in the fighting with the Rakgouls. He stated the fighting as so fierce that his armour had been covered with the blood of this creatures.

From his and GAR’s perspective the creatures were being lead by a bigger one, nicknamed the “Queen”. This large, overly powerful one seemed to be moving the Rak’gouls as a colony against the uninfected. By the time other GAR troopers were engaged in the fight, most of the effort was to take out this “queen”. The strategy worked and once the leader fell the other Rakgouls were easily dispatched with just a few escaping backing into the country-side. Now Private Pepper is helping to hunt down these stragglers and warns anyone seeing one to stay as far away as possible and if they are bit or scratched to seek medical attention right away.

Im not exactly a Xenobiologist / Exobiologist but I know enough about it to know those are not Rakghouls. Rakghouls are humanoid in nature and these look more insectoid or reptilian. A Rakghoul looks like your average human albeit deformed, mutated and disproportionate. Size is usually just as large as a human but there have been a few forms that are twice or three times the size of a human albeit these are rare and haven’t been spotted in ages.

there are very few pictures left of living rakghouls but here was one taken in the taris undercity.

anyway to sum it up those look like some sort of reptilian or insectoid being. If these jedi can capture one that would be great since I do know a friend who would love to study one and is an actual Xenobiologist.

Your right…. they arent the traditional Rakghoul as you’ve read on the holonet and history… these are products of a more sinister thing… they were humans I’ve watched one transform, The jensaarai call them ‘mutated’ Rakghoul because of the man who ‘created’ them in essance…. they are his project and he is wanted for questioning… His name is James Shepard, and as redundant as this sounds he’s a Bio-Medical Scientists who specializes in organs, the molecular structure of human and non human races, and cloning… his latest creations are unstable clones of himself…. that when provoked or attack will change…. so watch out…

He is 6′ tall, short red hair, Pale complextion, wears all white with a white trench coat… aproach anyone looking like this with caution. the Jensaarai are offering a 10,000 Credit bounty for the man alive… half it dead.
