Galactic Senate Postpones Several Votes

April 16, 2012

GNN Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide were able to attend the latest Senate meeting, where several key votes were to take place. The Reporters had also been able to meet with Senator Rain of Yavin IV prior to the gathering on Coruscant.

Corsucant: The Galactic Senate was able to convene, this time opening the proceeding up to the general public. Several votes were to take place including the voting in of a new vice-chancellor as well as the induction of several planets to Republic membership, including Naboo, Endor, New Alderaan, and Susevfi. This was also the first time several of the junior senators were able to publicly cast their vote such as Senator Nawa representing Ukio. As for the other prominent members, Senator Rain of Yavin IV, Senator Ta’kara of Bengat, Senator Nasaji Oba of Tython, Senator Nomi Drewmoore of Dantooine, Senator Angeline of Coruscant along with advisers Master Marsh Solo, Shan, and Trellis made their voices known during the proceedings. Master Panelope of the Ilum Jedi oversaw the meeting and tallied the votes, She was standing in for Chancellor Downz who was away on another matter.

Inside the Senate meeting.

The first matter was the voting in of a New Voce-Chancellor, which the Chancellor had stated he wanted done during this meeting. However, because so many were unaware of who was even running, the vote was postponed until next time, so the senators could become familiar with the candidates. This was in despite of the old tradition of allowing the loser to the Chancellorship with the highest votes to become Chancellor. Also, any Senator who wanted to run for the office was allowed to announce their candidacy, which the Senator from Bengat did.

Next up came the votes for the acceptance of new members into the Republic. However, once again vote was postponed for several reasons. For Naboo, a mistake on their aplication, the presence of a large number of Sith, and unclear governance delayed their membership, though several Senators agreed to send more investigators and possibly help to system. Endor’s membership was also delayed because of unclear politics and the seemingly control of what government there was by grey Jedi. New Alderaan’s membership was delayed because several senators wished to know more about the world. Finally Suevfi’s membership was delayed because of concerns about former Senator Hixal who was said to be representing this world now.

Senator Rain speaking about some of the issues facing the Senate.

GNN will try to attend the next Senate meeting to cover the votes. In the meantime a short interview of Senator Rain brought up some other issues. Its believed by her along with Republic investigators that someone close to the Senate proceedings is using information to threaten Senators, possibly to change their votes. Senator Rain stated she herself was threatened, but at this time doesn’t know who is behind the extortion. Also she stated that former Senator Hixal had begun an anti-Republic movement, a matter which will have to be substantiated.

    * would poke at his Screen as he grumbles *” THIS THING ON” then frowning as he strokes his grey beard hanging from his emerald wrinkled face ” It seems the senate is confusing us with a government , as Endor is by no means looked as one, The leader of the faction based on the moon is more looked as Monarchy or Royalty by others then such” he grunts ” I am sure Miss Kira here Has spoken towards Him, or should I say..Us further on these matters ” he sighed ” If the Republic does not pass us it would hurt alot in their path and that is no threat but more of a ..prediction persay” then grunted turning off his Holopad

I first want to point out that the sith occupying the region of lake country should not be cause for a delay in the application, but of course this is politics. If anyone Senators within the galactic senate wish to learn more about our world of Naboo and the true queen and heir to the throne of Naboo, please head to the capital of Theed. I would not mind sitting any galactic senate members down to discuss the issues currently plagueing the people of Naboo, who consider themselves New Republic Citizens.

Long Live Queen Adala, the people of theed, and all surrounding lands of Naboo.

*takes a moment to scroll through old articles and stumbles upon this one and couldn’t help but comment*

“Are you telling me that the republic could not even vote on who to elect because they had no knowledge of who was running? When asked then who would like to run only one person offered? Is this truly the state of the republic that I live in where everything brought to the table is postponed until another day? That nothing can be decided upon?”

    *takes a breath then continues*

“Some days I do wonder why I m a concerned citizen because things do tend to run so smoothly. Then things like this pop up. Becoming stagnant when in political arena is not a good thing. Please remember this when future issues re brought to the table. I want to be proud of my Republic but this just makes me ashamed.”
