Galactic Senate voted on applications

April 30, 2012

In visit on Coruscant, Reporters of the Galactic News went to the meeting of the New Republic Galactic Senate about to start.

The Senate meeting started with a bit of confusion, due to the absence of the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor. However, when it was clear they would not attend, the senators let one of them, Nomi Drewmoore from Dantooine, chairing the seance.

Senate Meeting

They had actually several applications to debate, pending since a long time already; New Alderaan, Susevfi 4, Endor’s Moon. Representatives of two of this systems were waiting at the door, although they did not enter in the chamber.

New Alderaan’s application passed without issue. A speaker told this world was helpful to the Republic. Then it was voted unanimously to enter in the Republic.

For Susevfi 4, the debate turned around the personality of Senator Hixal Aulus. Some senators alleged he led an anti-republic movement and he had relationship with the Hutt, some reproached him to have caused trouble. On our side, GNN has no detail of this movement, Hixal publicly denied it ever existed; also his relationship with the Hutt are known to be tense. By the way, the majority of the senators voted against Susevfi 4 application. After the vote a speaker proposed they would reconsider the proposition if Susevfi chose another senator.

Endor Moon’s entrance was also the subject of debate. The structure of their government is in the hand of Force users and their proposed senator is a Force user himself. The Senate would have a rule to not allow Senator being one. According to our informations, some current senators are actually Force users, some having been in a Force user order, such a rule application doesn’t look like to be strict. Anyway, the vote was split and Endor’s Moon entry was kept on hold for a subsequent session.

At the exit of the meeting, the Queen Aria Thul of New Alderaan said she was pleased the senator finally voted and evoked the historical role of Alderaan in the Old Republic.

Arbitras Rexsus II in Coruscant

Arbitras Rexsus II from Endor’s Moon looked like disappointed his application was postponed again. The Moon would have the need of the Republic for its security and would provide them its resources. Other factions might be plotting, himself was the target of an assassination attempt attributed to a Sith. He was surprised of the request of not having a senator Force user, since few of the senators he met were Force users, although this point may be addressed for the next meeting. He doesn’t see any major difference between his government and others, the regime on Endor allowing a great freedom and other government are led by force users as well.

Independently of the affected systems, this votes, for the first time negative, enlighten what the New Republic is going to.

“The force users that are in political spots such as Governor and Senator while they have had training in the past they do not follow this path anymore. Governor Otacon on Naboo and Senator Rain are examples of this. The Endor Senator has reached Jedi Knight? If he plans to leave this path and take up one of politics he should make this clear. If they are other force sensitives in these roles but are untrained then they do not have the knowledge nor focus to use such abilities. It should come to no ones surprise that the application of Endor has been held up especially since the Gray Jedi on Endor teach and practice use of the darkside of the force as I have been told. The use of such addictive abilities even in a small manner will raise some eyebrows in the Senate. This is their biggest obstacle in my opinion.”

Then what does that say about the Jensaarai? Remember in times past they were called a Sith cult, and worse. Yet they came forward to master Skywalker and signed a treaty with him and their structure is built much like taht of the jedi… would you bar their world from entering the senate? Even though they have done nothing but help the republic? Including Yavin and have attempted to help Dantooine and now the newest republican planet Naboo? Remember that most of the people on Susevfi 4 are either civilians, jensaarai, or synthetics. So would you bar them from your republic because of who they chose?

To refine on that, what if the person in question was a synthetic, a designate program, yet still alive? yet had the ability of Technometry? which is an uncommon force ability…? Would you alow that in to your senate? Or for that matter a simple civilian who knows nothing of politics? Choices are hard to make, but what should matter is the voice of the people.

It was made clear during the meeting that should Endor put forth another candidate forth another Senator it could allow for the votes to swing in favor of Endor. I’m unsure how a synthetic person could use technometry if they are in fact Synthetic. Synthetics, androids etc are unable to use the force. Unless of course you are referring to a person who has cybernetic attachments and replacement parts? To touch on your Jensaarai point I still believe that active trained force users should not go for roles a Governor, Senator etc. At most adviser but even then still limited. In the end I do not have control over who is allowed to do what in the Senate.

I am not suprised to not get in the Senate, all these things are being said about me yet i have no chance or offer to defend myself in person. The Chancellor attended a Hutt meeting, does that mean he is allied also with the Hutt? I think not, as for me and the Hutts i have no time for them i had plans to lead my people in the New Republic buit since you Senators have somehting against me then i suppose i will try my best to change your minds. I am a man of the people and always will be. Last note is Senator Rain of Yavin told me her words were twisted by the media also her brothers, Marsh.

No what I mean is some one who is 99% synthetic, with 1% organic. Mostly a brain…. who has been kept alive through means of nanites synth orgins, flesh, bone, and other such things…
