Galactic Legion, army of the New Confederation

August 4, 2012

Continuing their tour of Woostri, reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide also met with former New Trade Federation leader Alexander Wade.

Woostri: Since the disbanding of the New Trade Federation, former viceroy Alexander Wade has been planning other projects. Still with a strong hatred towards the Republic, he’s partnered with his half-brother Alastor Wade to form a new military, the Galactic Legion. Putting all their resources into this army, the brothers have their sights on the destruction of the Republic by any means possible.

Outfitting their men with cutting edge weapons and technology, though much of it based on older designs, they’ve also aligned themselves with the New Confederacy presumably to join with them in their war against the Republic. Alexander Wade stated he can’t stomach the corruption in the Republic and looks forward to wiping them from the galaxy. The military unit itself had been created during the time of the NTF as an elite fighting force trained specifically to take on Republic forces. Since that time its grown into a considerable force, though its underlying mission is still intact.

As part of their mission they’ve taken control of the Woostri government and are now in control of the system. They will use the system as the base of their operations while they make plans with the New Confederacy. However, Alexander Wade want to reassure the people of Woostri that they have no intention of acting as tyrants and will instead improve their lives during the occupation. For any future expansion, they’ll leave the governing of other worlds to the New Confederacy, but are ready to act as the Confederacy main fighting force for any plans that are made.

“Outfitting their men with cutting edge weapons and technology, though much of it based on older designs”

    Sound logic, right there.

“Outfitting their men with cutting edge weapons and technology, though much of it based on older designs”

that makes it not Cutting edge….

    Emphasis on “based”.

If it’s based on then it implies it is not the same but rather inspired by.

Oh I totally understand, dude. I’m actually doing something similar, myself- see I’m tired of all these “modern” blasters, so I decided to go ahead and make my own blaster, based on an old, primitive slugthrower- by which I mean “inspired by” of course. I’m going to make the extra effort to figure out how to cram the internal workings of a blaster into a slugthrower-like-casing, because it’s obviously the most efficient way to make it cutting edge.

Like I said, man. Sound logic. Right there.

I’m just wondering, do you actually see the guns in the picture? I don’t see where cramming comes into play, plus the fact that when technology progresses things don’t get bigger, if anything they get smaller and more compact. Like that Holopad you’re using, older models were much bulkier.

A new design doesn’t have to make something better, new parts, internal machinery etc in old designs can still make something better.

it still doesn’t necessarily make it a good thing, now does it, though?

that depends on the design that was improved upon, but in technicality yes new parts does make for a good / better thing.

Well in this case I would be amazing if any faction, including the Republic and GAR, had a mass produced gun as accurate yet fast as ours. 950 Rpm with dead-on accuracy sounds pretty good to me. Most guns are tweaked and modified extremely, so obviously there are better guns; but for a standard mass produced model this is probably the best you can find.

Oh man, that’s adorable, look- these guys are actually taking the time to argue this point out!

This so-called legion is nothing but a group of thugs with delusions of grandeur. Just yesterday, they landed on Uvena Prime and began attempting to give orders and regulating laws. All of this with no consultation with our planetary government, and a refusal to state the simple reason as to why they were there. It very nearly became a firefight when they refused to obey the orders of government and militia members to leave the planet.

I can only assume their intention was to scout the system for a possible invasion. Know this, New Confederacy, or Galactic Legion. Whatever you prefer to call yourselves. The Shistavanens will never again let outsiders take our soil from us by force. If you try, either you will all die, or we will – and we will ensure there is no planet left for you to take, if it is the latter.

-Foreign Minister Toshai Kylvik, Shistavanen Planetary Government

Never had I or any Senior Officer made any attempt to do such a thing.
