Tae Aichi Named as Diplomatic Minister to the Republic

September 9, 2012

GNN reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide traveled to the Republic world of Onderon where they spoke with the new Republic Minister of Diplomacy.

The Onderon Jedi that was tasked with speaking with the Mandalore on behalf of the Republic, has been named to Chancellor Vandergraff’s cabinet. Master Jedi Tae Aichci has been named Minister of Diplomacy, the announcement was made during a closed-door Senate meeting inside sources told Galactic News. Now publicly declaring her appointment, Master Aichi has made the public statement about her new post, stating that her duties have not changed any than what they are as Jedi and she said the position was really a form of Ambassadorship, a title she would prefer, than a political post.

Master Aichi will Represent the Republic’s government as chief negotiator and mediator then report back to the Senate, who will make the final determination over what said. For her duties she herself can’t bind the Republic to any matter and has no political duties. She will help draft treaties and other matter, but just as her role of Ambassador, as the Senate is the only ones able to ratify them. She stated that she is really a messenger with a fancy title, nothing more.

Minister of Diplomacy, Tae Aichi.

Her appointment was made after her duties last week speaking with the Mandalore about his occupation of Coruscant. Master Aichi wouldn’t go into details about what was talked about, citing security concerns, but did state the mandalorians should be applauded in their efforts to keep civilian casualties low and she was able to speak with him on respectable terms. She stated that a Republic Diplomat needs to enter to talks without per-conceived notions, personal views, or make hasty judgments. From this point they can speak with others in a professional and equal manner and accomplish much in a short period of time with a party that may surprise them with their ways as well.

Elaborating on the matter of Jedi working directly for the Republic, a point Senators and other Jedi have pointed out may conflict with the stated roles of Jedi, Master Aichi stated that this position has no extra duties than what she was already doing trained as a Jedi. Its well-known that many Jedi are specifically trained as diplomats and take on ambassador roles. This is all she is doing and was only given a fancy title by the Chancellor. She even spoke with Master Jedi Marsh Solo of Tython over the matter, clearing the air and calming his fears about her taking a political position. Even though this post may not have political powers, there are many that are becoming more vocal over the roles of Jedi in politics, especially since many of the Senators were trained in using the force or were once Jedi themselves.

Also a matter that seems to be arising among many is the seeming centralization of not only the Chancellor’s position but the power of the Republic in the worlds of Onderon and Velmor, a matter which gains even more traction as the Chancellor appoints yet another from Onderon. Master Aichi stated that politics moves in waves, right now Onderon has a lot of political power, but in a few months another system will probably become more prominent as the Senate moves onto other matters and persons from other worlds begin to fill other positions. As for the seeming centralization of the Chancellor’s office itself, the Ambassador only stated that this perception just arises from the government trying to streamline itself and make itself more efficient by having the Senators do their duty as representatives of their people. She stated that the Republic has too many checks and balances put into place for power to be consolidated in one single source or person.

For now Ambassador Aichi hasn’t been given any more specific missions but looks forward to speaking with leaders and citizens alike from all the factions in the Galaxy, such as possibly opening more trade with the Republic. However, she re-iterated that it is up to the Senate to decide what their foreign policy is and where to send her. In conclusion, she stated that she will be more than happy to speak with anyone over the matter of her appointment and hopes persons throughout the galaxy can speak to one another in a peaceful manner.

We hope that jetii master Tae Aichi will ” play” fair during the negotiations with Mand’alor, with no mind tricks, no so called ” force sugestion” or other games like ” these are no droids you are looking for”,he is not a weakminded person, even he is not a force user, if she tries will be regretable. She must forget during the negotiations that she’s a jetii, she is JUST a diplomate, otherwise these talks will end before the start.

I didn’t use any mind tricks against Mandalore (This is a mind trick) how unscrupulous do you think I am? besides, the negotiations with him were the week prior, though I’m still extending an olive branch as it were.

If you say so, it means you didn’t( Aah, dear master jetii, said Ardeth to himself,if i could be a fly to see, if you waved slowly your right hand. But i let you think you had success).I am now convinced you are a well intentioned person, who wants only peace between our people.(Ardeth grins and said in his mind ” Enjoy the donut, jetii”)

A lot of mind trick is required to make believe the Republic has “many checks and balances.”

Senator, if you don’t know about the series of checks and balances in place, then you haven’t read the constitution under which you operate.

Why do I feel you’re waving your hand while telling so? The constitution doesn’t talk about checks and balances and in the reality none are working. Every powers are in the hand of the Chancellor and she control the rare appeals. We can make a public debate on this matter if you dare to support this views.
