Tafo Speak Out Against the Galactic Empire

October 13, 2012

GNN Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide were able to catch up to and speak with Tython Senator, Sapphire Tafo.

As the Galactic Empire still occupies the Republic world of Tython, an ever-growing resistance movement is starting to take shape. One of the prominent members to emerge is Republic Senator Sapphire Tython. GNN was able to catch up with her in the wilderness on Tython with her Wookie bodyguard, Shogarii.

Sapphire Tafo and Shogarii in the wilderness of Tython

Miss Tafo started out by saying that the occupation has been hard on the citizens of Tython, but that more and more patriots are coming forward to make a stand that their world will not be ruled by strangers. Using the recent attack on the Terentatek park as an example of the Empire’s disrespect to Tython, she stated that this was just one of many case where the Imperials had tried to destroy the Tython culture. Furthermore, she pointed out that the park was a privately owned company where the Hutts owned most of the shares. She said this illustrated the Empire’s disregard to others interests, would attack them at their whim and that this battle involves more than just the people of Tython.

Even though the attack on the park led to several of the defenders dead or injured, the survivors managed to regroup at a new outpost. They’ve been joined by several freedom fighters who have made their way through the blockade, by Jedi who had been displaced from Tython, and by others who have donated equipment and resources to the movement.  They are becoming more organized, better trained, and equipped as they make plans against the Galactic Empire.

Volunteers from other Republic worlds would also have proposed their aid already, but Miss Tafo stated that the Republic itself has given no support other than one minister saying she would resign if nothing was done to help Tython, but who said in the same breath that the Republic had no intentions of talking to the people of Tython since they were under Sith occupation and probably under their control. These comments were heard by GNN after the Tafo-Aichi debate, coming out of the mouth of the Republic defense minister, though GNN would like to hear from minister if they were taken out of context.

Miss Tafo speaking passionately about her people.

For now the goal of the resistance movement is to re-establish the rule of Tython by the people of the Tython. The exact plans are being drawn up the resistance leaders and the provisional government. Tafo herself is part of the provisional government which is ready to take the reigns of power once the occupiers are pushed away and set up a permanent government for the people. They are working with resistance leaders from around the world, who are moving in small agile groups where power isn’t concentrated in one person and when one leader falls another rises up to take their place. Miss Tafo will continue serving the people in whatever form the government takes after the occupation, but doubts she will go back to the Senate, where she doesn’t believe that people like those have Tython have a voice and are disregarded in favor of monarchies and private interests.

Miss Tafo is saddened by the casualties they have experienced so far, but said their sacrifices would not be in vain and that their fight for liberty would continue. She admires the brave behaviors of her people and that they are uniting in a call tell the Empire that Tython does not want them here.

“Miss Tafo stated that the Republic itself has given no support other than one minister ”

Jedi were sent there and defeated invading Sith and another mission was done to provide food and medical aid. Once again we get the “no support” argument when there is evidence of the contrary.

“Using the recent attack on the Terentatek park as an example of the Empire’s disrespect to Tython, she stated that this was just one of many case where the Imperials had tried to destroy the Tython culture”
I was not aware that housing dangerous beasts engineered specifically to kill the Jedi who are native to Tython was part of Tython’s ‘culture’

” Furthermore, she pointed out that the park was a privately owned company where the Hutts owned most of the shares.” Nor were we aware that a park that was seeking funding by the senator of the planet from whoever would give them money was private property especially when it is being used as a staging ground for an insurgency.

The Imperial Occupation of Tython is a lawful one and one supported by the majority of Tython citizens. They are tired of being the slaves of a government which endangers them, uses their voice for political gain in the republic, makes them a target to foreign attack and treats non force users like second class citizens, refusing to do anything to Jedi who violate the law and victimize Tythonians with Impunity. The Empire brings with it Justice, Order, and Security for all citizens.

Maybe because I’m far from their decision centre, I’m no aware the Republic sent a group of Jedi to broke the blockade, defeated the Sith and left, the Sith appear to be still present and undefeated for us. The resistance networks don’t have forwarded either anything about this food and medical mission from the Republic passing through this dangerous blockade. We would have asked more useful things, such as better equipment to continue our rightful struggle. I didn’t deny however individuals or groups from Republic words offered their efficient support.

The culture is made of various elements, even the most cruel ones. Terentatek roamed in Tython in the past and are part of our rich heritage. The Empire clearly doesn’t understand the people of Tython. We don’t want to be ruled by outsiders imposing their law with their armed forces. We believe the justice come from the people, to the people and this is not compatible with the Empire or any other similar regime. We are here at home, we are the proud people of Tython and our duty lead us to free ourselves from the yoke of the enemy.

Your insurgency, Senator, is an illegal rebellion and terrorist organization fighting the lawful officers of the peace and attempting to usurp the rightful and legal planetary government. Despite your claims of being Tythonians for Tython you yourself have used Tython to aggrandize yourself and your interests in the Republic, and have willfully endangered the people of your world for private profit. You capitalized on the Imprisonment of the Link Algoma, And have been a consistent thorn in the side of Republic progress, and in many ways have benefited the Empire by being a perfect point of proof of the failures of the Republican system of government. As for your claim that the Terentateks roaming the planet in the past. You are partially correct.

Terentateks did roam Tython…in search of Jedi outposts there to destroy and devour on the whim of former Jedi Knight Exar Kun. who used transposed species native to Korriban on Yavin IV to create the so called “Jedi Killers” as a bioweapon unleashing them on Tython, Tatooine, and Kashyyyk. They are not ‘native fauna’ as you would suggest and are a violent, dangerous species which should be contained far far away from any sentient, Let alone on the homeworld of the group they were made to Destroy.

Senator, If you wish to Rule Tython as a Tythonian, perhaps you should stop beating around the bush and come out and say so, lay down your arms and petition The Emperor for status as an Imperial Pronvincial or Protectorate world. This would end the violence on both sides, and save both your insurgents and our troops time, money, and lives

“The Imperial Occupation of Tython is a lawful one and one supported by the majority of Tython citizens.”

Oh, come on now. Really? I’m a Tython citizen and I have yet to meet a single Tythonian who wants you here. We didn’t ask for you to invade. We didn’t ask for your help. Don’t you get it yet? YOU’RE NOT WANTED HERE. GO THE KRIFF HOME.

“Your insurgency, Senator, is an illegal rebellion and terrorist organization fighting the lawful officers of the peace and attempting to usurp the rightful and legal planetary government.”

Illegal this, insuregency that. Whatever. YOU’RE NOT WANTED HERE. GO THE KRIFF HOME.

Strawman. This doesn’t change the fact that YOU’RE NOT WANTED HERE. GO THE KRIFF HOME.

In respecting the sovereignty of a people, there is no substitute for autonomy.

With their rumours, the Empire Propaganda search to divide the partisans, but we stand all united behind one cause, the freedom we all hold dear.

It’s no surprise they ignore what the culture is. It’s no matter the species are native to be part our heritage. Our own species is not native either. Neither is the tune all Tythan are going to sing “Long Live The Liberty,” shared by all freedom fighters in the Galaxy and integrally part of our culture.

We’re not barbaric, we would agree to discuss with the occupying forces, but for the only final resolution we’re mandated for is about their withdrawal.

You claim that a species that was created solely to hunt down and kill Jedi are part of your heritage? Perhaps your people are better off as Imperial anyway. The Codex Imperialis allows for worlds that provide enough in taxes or conscripted support to essentially govern itself in one of several ways as long as none of their activities are actively treasonous. If you truly desire peace, Senator. You may seek to use this option. But continued declarations against your rightful governors and protectors will not win you any favors nor will it make any Imperial Authorities inclined to believe you and yours will not attempt sedition or treason. We must of course have the people of The Empire, all of it, as well as those on Tython in mind.

I also must note, that any Republic worlds who find themselves being mistreated by the Republic and do not wish to serve under it’s terrible yoke, who do not wish to be left out in the cold save for the whims of a few Jedi, These worlds we welcome into the Empire. Those who come willingly are given greater benefits than those who rebel against us or sponsor our enemies. No mercy will be given to the traitor and the heretic who is unrepentent, But the greatest zealots are the converted, and we welcome them with open arms.

  6. Former Gov/Sen Benae of Tython
    October 14, 2012 at 8:10 AM

I applaud the efforts of the resistance on Tython. Being a former government member I know for a fact that there are interest groups working within the government as well as the local population of Tython. The reason behind my untimely leave was overshadowed by lies and deception by those who did not truely care for the people, but more for their own popularity and greed.

I may now be a governor of Lake Retreat but my heart is with the people of Tython and those who truely believe in the values and beliefs that have brought all of Tython together. I ask the people of Tython to stand up and continue to fight against those who would try and silence them and oppress them. If I were still able to be on Tython I would have never made it possible for these interests groups to arise.

Unfortunately this is not in the cards for me but it is for those who continue to rebel against the horrid occupation of the sith empire. If the people of Tython are not happy with the government then fight and try to make change. Senator Tafo is a great woman, even though her actions may at times be questionable. Her heart lyes with Tython and the true people of Tython know who to lead.

Remember what Tython stands for. Unity against all odds. For the force is strong with Tython.
