Republic Gains a Strong Foothold on Coruscant

October 21, 2012

GNN Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide witnessed a major battle on Coruscant.

Republic forces launched a major campaign against the Galactic Empire on Coruscant. A bloody battle waged through the skyscrapers as Republic soldiers began to pour in after punching through the planetary defenses.

Republic forces including Jedi fight the Sith led forces of the Galactic Empire

The battle waged on for a considerable amount of time and after a huge body count had been created on both sides, the Empire finally withdrew. Upon the withdrawal, more Republic forces began to pour in, securing the area even more and setting up a headquarters.

Republic forces also were able to secure several areas of planet, forcing Imperial troops to give up fields and to regroup on key points.

As of now reports or hazy as to the exact casualty toll, but from most reports coming in, the death toll would be in the upper millions with extensive property damage throughout the planet. It will take some time to form a clear picture as to what exactly happened, especially as the Republic would use their momentum continue to push the Imperial forces, expectingly off planet. With that the bloodiest part of the war may yet come.

I applaud the efforts of the brave men and women that fought in this battle. One of the Padawans from my order was present, while i do not approve of her being there, i commend that she fought valiantly.

I do commend fighters on both sides of the conflict for standing up for what they believe in, seeing two sides fight so ardently for what they believe is right brings a certain kind of honor to each side, and I recognize that on both sides of the conflict that there are heroes. Hopefully this conflict will be over soon and the bloodshed may stop. I thank men, women, and assorted other genders from across the Republic for fighting for our cause, and I commend the Sith and Imperial forces for a spirited defense.

I can assure both sides that any talks that will be undertaken as an end to the conflict will be fair and balance, though the Republic would not look ill on the Sith and Imperial forces simply vacating the planet after such military actions have been undertaken. I look quite well on the actions of all of the soldier, though as a Jedi, I wish that I had been successful in my initial talks with the Mandalorians, and he in his talks with his Chieftans. It is a great shame that this fight had to happen, but now it seems to be coming to a close.

In closing I would ask that any Sith or Imperial commander interested in peace talks or a cease fire may approach me with such a request.
