Chancellor Tiffany Vandergraff retirement

November 23, 2012

Chancellor Tiffany Vandergraff announced her withdrawal in several channels.

The Chancellor of the New Republic, Tiffany Vandergraff had broadcast a recorded message where she announced her resignation. This announce weaken even more the New Republic, already undermined by the defections.

Tiffany Vandergraff:

Citizens of the Galaxy… I’ve fought rather long and rather hard to try and keep as much of this galaxy free and safe as possible. It’s been a difficult journey and, frankly, not all of my exploits have been successful; this I realize and acknowledge. I apologise to all those whom I may have seemed to neglect throughout my term as Chancellor. I can promise you, I did not forget you, despite what smear campaigns have made you believe.

The next thing I must admit is what the Republic is. When I took office as Chancellor, the Republic was already beaten, battered, and broken. Over the last few months, we, as a governmental body, have attempted to fix the Republic and give the citizens what they truly deserve from the government they put their faith in.

We have failed.

This mess that the legislative and executive branch inherited has limped along by our aid, but has not shown any improvement. Now, it is showing its decline in a rather large way. Already, the legislature has descended into petty bickering over the tiniest of details in small decisions, rather than dealing with present and important issues. People have been reluctant to work with one another and find a compromise that is feasible for all. Instead, they are polarsied to extremes and do not offer solutions to their complaints of said polarisation. The citizens have lost faith in the Republic and, frankly, so have I.

As much as I dislike the man and some of the things he has done and stands for, Hixal Aulus has said it best: “The Republic is corrupt.” It may not be in the way he thinks, however. Instead of simply corrupt politicians, we have corrupt laws and infrastructure. Most of all, we have a corrupt Constitution. The document is written terribly and, even with extensive revisions, is still unusable for a true, cohesive governmental structure.

This is the Constitution in its purest form. Amazing, how something so large can fit on such a small device. All the same, this is all it is. A simple chip. Of course, several copies are available, each one updated, but this is the first one to be updated at all times. It is always available for each meeting, in the case that it is amended, and it is immediately updated as soon as any amendment passes.

The New Republic is broken, the constitution useless, the officials petty, the people apathetic, the local leaders skeptical, and the galactic populace certainly has no love for it. Consider this my resignation as Chancellor. This is former Chancellor, Miss Tiffany Vandergraff wishing you all good luck; and may the Republic live long enough for you to get out.

Let it be known that I did not want anything like this to happen. I only wanted to be a critic to try and improve the Republic, a system that was once highly respected.. even by those on the Empires side.

I do, however, disagree what the Vice Chancellor has gone about this. The panic that will follow from the citizens will be unprecedented.. along with other positions becoming vacant. The Republic must fill these positions a soon as possible.

Another concern is now that Sapphire Tafo is by right the Chancellor which cannot happen! If she is to claim the spot then Senators and such alike people need to vote her out.

    Long live the Republic!

Actually, this is a pull out, a total disbandment, the Republic is no more basically. We’re expecting to try and start up something new. However, it won’t be with the Republic, we had to remove life support so to speak from the dying beast.

So this is the end of six months of reign, scattered by scandals, veto, deny of democracy, invasion of the capital without reaction, promotion of old friends, invasion of a world without reaction, withdrawal of several worlds unable to stand her furthermore, use of the army to rescue her niece, and it’s not only the half. So many worlds have left because of this people and when leaving, they lobby for the remaining ones leave as well… and to say that the Chief Justice would only a Sith Lord…

This, I think, marks the end of the republic as we know it. I believe that chancellor vandergraff was one of the last great public officials who survived through the end of the PGA. I grew up in an intermediary period of galactic unification where the only bastion of law and order became the Fel Empire which wasn’t exactly a model of freedom and justice either, but more a safeguard against the ever prevalent Sith Empire. This is not the end of civilization, the corellian and Tion hegemonies, the herglic trade empire, members worlds of the hapes cluster, the chiss ascendency and more all will continue to exist in the wake of the republic’s end. But I believe that these turn of events have shown us that the galaxy is not yet ready for a republic. We may need to ask ourselves not what makes a good chancellor, but first what makes a good person.

I dont see why she didnt just rewrote the constitution entirely (surely changing the entirety of the republic) and only keeping the name new republic. The government structure could remain the same but with clearer rules. Power structure and with anti corruption laws and so forth, clearer rules on worlds joining and those wanting to leave. Re-do it adress all the things that need to be changed or added and just do it.

See, Coruscant? your republic crumbles on its own while the Empire and Mando’ade continue to flourish. Perhaps you should take this into consideration.

The Republic is an organization of PIGS! I say burn them all! The planets are better of independent anyway!

    Heil Hixal!
