Pod-Racing re-open on Mos Espa, Tatooine

August 31, 2012 1 comment

GNN reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide attended to the latest series of swoop racers on Tatooine at the town of Mos Espa.

At the races on Tatooine.

Tatooine: The popular, Nasirii backed pod racers were once again staged in Mos Espa. Drawing a record crowd, racers came from all around the galaxy to show what they have. Old and new faces came to join in to what became the largest pod race of its kind. Old favorites such as the Galactic Cup champion Nora Saria were joined with experienced, though a newcomer to this circuit, the Emperor Kulith Laan to race against a variety of other jockey’s which turned out to be a grand show for racing fans. Kodo the Toydarian oversaw the races on behalf of the Nasirii Hutt Clan while the New Fel Imperium patrolled in the city.

Spanning five races, contestants were tasked with showing their skills over grueling tasks. First their was a six lap sprint, followed by a twelve lap run, then another six lap sprint. The last two races were mainly endurance events that should have pleased the local resident jawas. Racers were asked to continue racing until their pods could no longer go or were destroyed. the last pod to be running was declared a winner. The first of these was a straight race, followed by a similar one named a head-on where half the racers followed the track clockwise  and the other half counter-clockwise. Needless to say the tracks were littered with debris upon their conclusion.

With so many racers and spectators, the seen was chaotic and it was a miracle no one was killed, though many were injured. Adding to the chaos a band of Tusken Raiders took this opportunity to fire upon on the racers and even some of the spectators. Forces from the New Fel Imperium engaged the nomads and were able to finally drive them off. The damage was done though as many pods were destroyed and a slew of false starts occurred. It will be seen how security will be handled at the next race.

Racers continue by spectators and burning debris.

Nora Saria was in good form and dominated the races as she had the Galactic Swoop races. Winning three of the five races, she finished with the best times and was unstoppable in the first endurance race, having an almost unscathed pod after a record thirty-six laps. Rounding out the other two top spots were Kunith Laan winning one of the sprint races and Chelsea Blauvelt winning the last of the endurance races.

Following the event a large open market was also organized by the Nasirii clan where the large crowd could buy treats and other foodstuffs from around the galaxy and pretty much anything else they had their hearts set on. The races are scheduled once again on a weekly basis and should bring another large crowd next week as once again racers from around the known galaxy come to show what they have.”

Meeting the Hyperion Smuggling Corporation in Bakura

August 31, 2012 1 comment

Galactic News Network reporter met a group of smugglers in Bakura.

Smugglers masked during the interview

Currently established in Bakura, the Hyperion Smuggling Corporation is an organisation specialized in the several domains of the military. Created by a pair of brothers, they expect raising everyone’s profit by working in a company. Even if providing good for the military organisation is the basic of their job, they consider it’s the easy part. The Company also provides delivery, mercenary or guarding service. They claim after their long training and experience acquired at traveling in the Galaxy they out-match traditional companies.

They have several customers already, for instance, the Bakura monarchy or Republic organisation. They have more experience in the republic worlds since a few of them are former Jedi. The company itself is moderately new and welcome anybody having the required skills.

New Business, Announcment of Swoop Races, and a Tale of Empires at Hutt Night

August 30, 2012 6 comments

Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko attended the latest Hutt public audience known as Hutt Night on Nar Shaddaa.

Sinala of the former Servo Seven

As people began to pour in for the latest Hutt Night, where the public at large was able to gain an audience with the Hutt council, several old and new faces were seen. One old face with a new skin was one of the founders of the Servo Seven, a droid revolution group reported on near the beginning of this reporter’s career. Since that time the Servo Seven disbanded having lost their military backing and this droid itself had lost some of her revolutionary ideas since that time having taken up a job as a weapon’s contractor. Sinala was now on Nar Shaddaa hoping to come into contract with the CEO of the Czerka Corporation.

Several others came for business as well as this event like most of the others attracted a large crowd. Participants began speaking with majordomo Nawa about obtaining an audience with the Hutt, including the now returned Sihivus Verne. In addition to Nawa hosting the event, Shaka, Belutric, Dax, Jengaz, and Ku’gan the Hutts were overseeing the proceedings.

Devin Feskin of the CSA before the Hutt.

First to come before the Hutt was Corporate Sector Authority Executive Officer, Devin Feskin. He announced that the Corporate Sector Embassy on Nar Shaddaa was almost completed and now they were in the process of hiring locals. Jobs that were still open were needs for secretaries, language experts, security guards, and body guards. The only caveat was that local Hutt laws were to be followed in the hiring and that enemies of the CSA were not allowed to apply. Anyone interested should either come by the embassy or contact him.

For other announcements, he stated that the Corporate Sector was making great strides in expanding and forming partnerships. Also the banks in the core, presumably those on Coruscant have been even more tightly secured so those investing in a corporate bank should have no fear for the safety of their property. Though those that have requested it have had their property removed to other sites as they were able to.

Next Buletric the Hutt made an announcement that swoop races on Mos Espa were reopened and would be held the following day ((Thursday 7 PM SL time)) along with the open market for merchants to come sell their goods.

Sihivus Verne before the Hutt.

Next to come before the Hutt was Sihivus Verne. Not brining any gifts to offer, the Hutt Council grumbled, but Sihivus explained that she always came with business proposals not to pay tribute. This time she was offering a partnership to enter into a partnership opening a cantina on either on a newly discovered world or a newly neutral world such as Coruscant. Most of the Hutt still weary of her not brining gifts seemed reluctant about the idea, though Shaka the Hutt was intrigued and offered to speak with Verne in a private meeting at a later time.

Kulith Laan of the Galactic Empire and Trayus

Imperator Kulith Laan of Trayus was the next up before the Hutt. He was accompanied by several others including the Disciple of Ragnos Darth Sae’hal II. They came before the Hutt to extend their concern that the Nasirii clan under Belutric had opened up friendly negotiations with the New Fel Imperium (NFI,) especially that the NFI has seemingly been given a large amount of resources. Belutric didn’t hide the fact and said his clan worked with any group that would benefit Mos Espa. Kulith Laan reminded Belutric that many of the Hutt sitting on the council had been harmed by the Fel Empire and not to close economic doors due to his willingness to associate with the Fels. Belutric explained that each Hutt could oversee their own business as they would like and if the Trayus had opportunities on Tatooine he would be happy to speak with them.

Next Kulith Laan explained the situation on Coruscant. He stated the Mandalorians are co-governing the core world with the Galactic Empire and other Sith groups. The Trayus has made sure that business trade has now reopened for those under their protection. He said only a few industries had been nationalized but that most other businesses have been allowed to continue as normal. In fact there is more freedom in trade as new markets have now been open such as the slave trade. The Hutt seemed very interested in speaking with the Trayus about the business opportunities on Corsucant.

Mof Red of the Fel Imperium speaking with the Hutt.

At this time Moff Red of the New Fel Imperium asked to speak with Hutt Council. His presence caused several to draw their weapons, but the Moff acted calm as he spoke to the Hutts. The Moff calmly told those present that he wished for peace and told he didn’t know why their relationship with certain Hutts were strained and that it must have been a misunderstanding. Another speaking on behalf of the Galactic Empire offered a bounty on the Moff’s head once he stopped speaking.

Other came forward to state that the Fel had insulted Ku’gan the Hutt an accusation that Moff Red denied stating that if any of his men had done such a thing they would be severely punished. Darth Sae’hal then came forward to extend his proposition that the Fels should be exterminated. The Hutt council decided that Ku’gan would be the one to decide on the Moff’s fate and the bounty that was on him. Ku’gan decided to have the Moff detained while he thought on his words. Moff Red peacefully gave himself up to await his fate.

After the meeting, Ku’gan and others spoke with Moff Red who stated that those that had insulted the Hutts and had caused incidents on Nar Shaddaa were dead, but that he would compensate the Hutt nonetheless. Upon these words the Moff was released to prove himself. Kulith Laan was also heard stating that he would give this Moff an audience, though only time will tell if the Fel Imperium overcomes the hatred against them in this part of the Galaxy.

A Terentatek captured in Tython

August 30, 2012 1 comment

Galactic News observed the capture of a Terentatek by the Jedi

the shuttle exploring the forest

A Terentatek, suspected to have butchered several people in the Tython, was captured by a team of Jedi. The creature escaped from the cave where it was locked after a tremor and then it wandered in the forest causing devastation. Probe droids scouting the forest discovered fresh traces of blood and destruction in a isolated cabin, which led the Jedi to believe the creature was nearby. The Jedi Acker, along with the padawn Linnefer from the New Jedi Order (NJO) and Atlantis from the Kalway Order of the Jedi (KOJ) flew off to the location.

Inspection of the cabin

Once there the Jedi confessed they felt the force being darker, and also apprehensive to be in the territory of a Jedi eating creature. Actually the forest was different than elsewhere in the planet. After scouting the forest in their shuttle, they reached the cabin and were able to confirm the droid’s observation. The cabin was near an old mine which showed up sign of activity shortly after the landing. It could have been survivors of the attack, but people returned in the shuttle, at the exception of Atlantis walking toward the entrance carefully. It was actually the creature, walking to the open and quickening its pace while feeling the Jedi. Atlantis was bale to make it back to the shuttle, but the creature jumped on, scratching the hull hard with its long claws.

Gripping the shuttle

Fortunately the park where the creature was meant to be released was not far. After a shaky travel, Acker tried to drop it in. However it was gripping the ship too strong, even starting to damage it. Not so far, the Senator Sapphire Tafo was waiting over a tall cage with a large hole on the top. The shuttle flew nearby, the creature jumped toward the Senator, but she quickly jumped into the hole. The Terentatek followed her, but she was able to squeezeher way through the bar, while the large creature was blocked.

Creature in the cage

After ensuring it couldn’t move away, the group returned to the park spaceport. The Jedi explained using themselves as a bait was part of the capture plan. The Senator wanted it alive for the park and the plan is to leave it for the moment in the cage and study it before releasing it later. She affirms to be able to secure the park despite certain voices claiming the opposite and even those that have threatened to kill the creature. Hopefully she’ll be right. Also, following a suggestion of the Hutt, a documentary film is about to be released with the images of the capture.

Sihivus Verne back to business

August 28, 2012 3 comments

After having spotted Sihivus Verne, supposedly dead after a ship crash, A reporter of Galacic News interviewed her in Bakura.

Sihivus Verne in her Office

Bakura: Sihivus Verne is returning to business after the crash of her ship in Ord Mandell. That crash ended the series of attacks she led against Zeltros, Talus and Rori, causing several casualties and damages. Verne explained she was looking for the chaos over the profit, justifying the chaos is funnier for her the same way a Hutt would have preferred the profit. She confessed she had not all of her head during the attacks and doesn’t want to endanger her life such a way anymore. Asked if she had a word or a gesture for the victims, she said she will “simply help those who openly seek it.”

The Club

Anyway, after the recovery of serious injury, Sihivus Verne explored the Galaxy undercover. As she was “unimpressed with the lack of Verne” in it, she decided to resurface and rebuild her business along with the Imperious. One of her latest acquisitions is a club in the upper city of Bakura. She stated she has had no problem with the Grand Army, which are frequently patrolling in the streets and considers them an “interesting group.” Her business is uncorrelated from Jes’tula Tor’dok, which recently challenged the authorities claiming the control of the undercity.

So far, Sihivus plans are not fixed, but whatever they’ll be she wants them to be “glorious.”

The Clone Troopers settle in Rori

August 28, 2012 5 comments

A reporter of the Galactic News Network attended to the landing in Rori of the commander of the clone troopers.

Juno Elipse

The clone troopers (TCT) are returning to their abandoned base of Rori, a moon of the planet Naboo. Juno Elipse recently took the command of the troopers after their departure from Kamino and the leaving of their former leaders. Looking in the archives she discovered this unused outpost and decided to settle with a garrison. The troopers will likely help at the defence of the moon as well as patrolling, although the details still have to be decided with the local government.

The unprepared departure of the former leadership staff brought some disorder in the troopers ranks and many of the clone are missing. Therefore, new batches of clones, using an improved DNA, have been ordered to fill ranks.

Fel Imperium Sets Base on Tatooine

August 27, 2012 7 comments

GNN Reporters Daana Kira and Rakiko Lowtide, traveled to Tatooine where they met Moffs of the New Fel Imperium.

Tatooine: Receiving word that visitor traffic had spike in Mos Espa, GNN dispatched us to investigate. Within the city limit upon one of the bluffs, several new buildings had been erected. Here we meet the Moff “Red” from the New Fel Imperium (NFI). He had been assigned to their new base in Mos Espa. We accompanied him to the base where we met one of his associates, Moff Councilor Maddox Ghost, acting commander of the Tatooine base.

NFI on Tatooine

Forming an agreement with the local Hutts, the Fel Imperium had set up bases and outposts to provide protection for the local populace. Mainly protecting the area from scoundrels and Tusken Raiders, the allowance of the NFI on Tatooine will also possible make the desert planet a target of the Sith. However, the two Moffs were at a loss as to they the aggression from the Sith other than a possible grudge of the NFI’s beliefs in the old Fel way. The NFI claims that there is still an heir to the old Fel throne and it had never passed to the Sith Empire, possibly creating the current conflict.

The Moffs stated that the Fel Empire doesn’t seek wars or conquests but are more than capable to defend themselves. They also have no problem former alliances with any faction that is friendly towards them. Other than looking for the rightful heir to the throne, the NFI is also looking to restore the Galaxy to how it was before the large Sith faction had taken control of large territories. They believe the Sith are too chaotic and instead stated that the ways of their old leader Roan Fel, specifically stability and patience, would unite the Galaxy.

Moff Maddox Ghost concluded by stating “people, you must know who you follow and what their motives are. Don’t follow a trend. Follow what is right for the Galaxy.” with an add-on by Moff Red stating that they will work with and be friendly to any other faction that shows the same.

Jedi Orders organise a High Council

August 26, 2012 14 comments

Galactic News was invited to an announcement from the Jedi in Tython.

Jedi from Dantooine (DJE), Tython (NJO) and Yavin 4 (KOJ) met in Tython and agreed, with the ones of Coruscant (Ilum) to “work toward better communication, better teamwork of the enclaves and be a more unified front so that we may better serve the Galaxy.” This will pass by a proper communication between the different enclaves, especially between their councils.

Jedi Master Sha’ira

This organisation might be considered as a “High Council”. The founding four orders, all in a world of the Republic, were already used to some form of collaboration together. They welcomed and encouraged all of the other Jedi to join them, but respect the decision of those wanting to remain independent.

In the meeting they also discussed on the situation of Coruscant. Some of the Jedi were on the planet during the attack, but overwhelmed, they were only able to observe and help the civilians. No plan on an upcoming action is yet public.
